Connect Telegram and send your first campaign
A practical walkthrough: create a bot in BotFather or link your personal account, check your numbers, then launch your first Telegram campaign.
This guide takes you from nothing to a sent Telegram campaign. For the full detail on the channel see Telegram.
Step 1 — Decide: bot or account?
| You need to | Connect |
|---|---|
| Message people who pressed "Start" on your bot or joined your channel | A bot |
| Address phone numbers directly | A personal account |
| Check who on your list is on Telegram | A personal account |
| Spread load across several senders | Several bots |
Step 2 — Create the bot
Open BotFather
Search Telegram for @BotFather and open the chat.
Send /newbot
It asks for a display name, then for a username ending in bot.
Copy the token
You get a line like 123456789:AAH…. That is the token — treat it as a password.
Paste it into Mersal
Telegram ‹ Bots ‹ Add, then press Test to confirm.
Never share a bot token. If one leaks, revoke it in BotFather with /revoke and take a fresh one.
Step 3 — (Optional) link your personal account
From Telegram ‹ Personal accounts ‹ Add, choose QR or a login code. If you have two-step verification, have its password ready.
Step 4 — Check your numbers
From Telegram ‹ Number check, pick a contact group and start. When it finishes, press Save as group to get a group containing only the people who are on Telegram — and that is the group you send to.
Checking saves more than it looks: sending to numbers that are not on Telegram fills your reports with failures that have nothing to do with the quality of your campaign.
Step 5 — Launch the campaign
Open the send screen
Messages ‹ Telegram ‹ Send.
Pick recipients
The group you saved from the check.
Write the message
Up to 4,096 characters. Use variables such as the customer's name to make it personal.
Choose the sender
A specific bot, or Automatic, or Spread across all my bots if you have more than one.
Send or schedule
Leave the schedule field empty to send now, or set a time.
Step 6 — Read the result
Under Reports ‹ Telegram you find the campaign grouped with a per-recipient status. Resend what failed, stop what has not gone out yet, or export the report as a file.
