Chrome Extension: Mersal Maps

Extract business leads from Google Maps in your browser and send them straight into Mersal's lead review queue.

2 min read

Mersal Maps is a Chrome extension (built on Manifest V3) that pulls business lead data — names, phone numbers, categories, and the other details Google Maps shows for a listing — directly out of Google Maps while you browse, and sends it into your Mersal account.

It's the browser-based front end for Mersal's Google Maps lead-extraction feature: the extension does the extracting, Mersal does the storing, reviewing, and eventual messaging.

How it works

  1. Browse Google Maps normally — search for the kind of business you want leads from (a category, a location, a keyword).
  2. Extract with the extension — Mersal Maps reads the business listings on the page and pulls out the lead data.
  3. Sync to Mersal — extracted leads are sent to your account through a dedicated extension API (under /api/extension/*), separate from the main dashboard API, built specifically for this browser-to-account sync.
  4. Land in the review queue — new leads don't go straight into your contact list. They land in scraped_leads, a holding table reviewed through the Leads Hub, where you can check and clean them up before they're promoted into regular Contacts.

Leads aren't sendable immediately

Extracted leads sit in the review queue by design — it keeps unverified, freshly scraped data separate from your main sending list until you've had a chance to look at it. See Lead Generation for what happens to leads once they're in the queue and how promotion into Contacts works.

Connecting the extension

Mersal Maps connects to your account via SSO — you sign in with your existing Mersal account credentials rather than creating separate login details for the extension. Once connected, every lead you extract is tied to your account automatically; there's no manual export/import step between the browser and your dashboard.

Installing

  1. Install Mersal Maps from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Sign in through the extension's SSO prompt to connect it to your Mersal account.
  3. Open Google Maps, search for the businesses you want, and use the extension to extract leads from the results.
  4. Go to your Mersal dashboard's Leads Hub to review, clean, and promote the leads you've collected.

See Lead Generation for the full picture of how scraped leads move from the review queue into regular Contacts, and how they fit alongside manually added or imported contacts.
