Connecting social networks
Link Facebook Pages, professional Instagram accounts, X and TikTok to Mersal through each platform's official sign-in, so their messages arrive in the unified inbox.
Every social network connects to Mersal through its own official sign-in — we never ask you for a password. You grant permission on the network's own site, and you can withdraw it there at any time.
Facebook (Pages)
Start the connection
From Social Media Manager ‹ Accounts ‹ Connect Facebook.
Approve the permissions
You are taken to Facebook to choose which Pages to connect and approve the permissions.
Pick your Pages
Each Page is connected with its own token, so disabling one Page does not touch the others.
Instagram (professional accounts)
Instagram uses Business Login for Instagram, and requires the account to be a Business or Creator (Professional) account. A plain personal account cannot be connected — switch it in Instagram's own settings first.
X (Twitter)
Connected over OAuth 2.0. Press connect, approve the request on X, and you are returned to Mersal.
TikTok
TikTok: comments only
TikTok exposes no way to read or reply to direct messages through its APIs, so what reaches you from it is comments. That is TikTok's own limitation and no system gets around it.
TikTok has two paths
TikTok separates two kinds of app: Login Kit for sign-in, and the TikTok API for Business for comment permissions. Mersal supports both and picks the right one during linking, so use the button that matches what you need and do not mix the two.
Switching a network off without losing the link
An administrator can turn any network off (X or TikTok, for instance) from the settings panel. Switching off does not delete the stored credentials: the network disappears from the screens and stops receiving events, and turning it back on later does not require re-linking.
After connecting
- Messages and comments arrive in the unified inbox.
- A reply leaves from the same account the message arrived on.
- A Sync button on each account refreshes its data from the network.
Troubleshooting
Linking ends with an 'expired code' message
Usually nothing has actually expired — the code was minted by one app and is being redeemed by another (this is common with TikTok specifically). Start again from the button that matches your case, without mixing the two paths.
New messages are not arriving
Check the account still shows as connected on the accounts screen, and that the permission has not been revoked in the network's own settings. Try Sync, and if it persists, reconnect.
Sender photos do not show
Some networks do not expose profile photos through their APIs, and the first letter of the name is shown instead. That is the network's behaviour, not a fault in the connection.
