Connecting mailboxes
Connect Gmail or Outlook with official sign-in, or any provider with IMAP and SMTP details, and read and reply to your mail inside the unified inbox.
Alongside email campaigns, Mersal can act as a full mail client: reading your mailbox, showing messages in their threads, and sending your reply from your own address — all inside the unified inbox next to WhatsApp and everything else.
An important distinction
This screen is not email campaigns. Campaigns go out through your gateways and have their own reporting — see Email. What we are describing here is a personal or support mailbox that you operate.
Ways to connect
Gmail
Outlook / Microsoft
IMAP & SMTP
Google and Microsoft sign-in need an app registered on the server beforehand. IMAP/SMTP works with any host and needs nothing set up in advance — it is the fastest route if your mail lives on your own hosting.
Connecting over IMAP and SMTP
Collect the details from your provider
IMAP host and port (usually 993 with SSL), SMTP host and port (usually 465 with SSL or 587 with STARTTLS), plus username and password.
Enter them in Mersal
From Social Media Manager ‹ Accounts ‹ Add mailbox.
Choose folders
Once the connection succeeds your folders are listed, and you pick which ones are pulled into the unified inbox.
Fetch the first batch
The Fetch button starts reading. If your mailbox is large, keep the first fetch to one folder.
A fetch is real work
Every fetch opens a live IMAP session with your provider, so it is deliberately rate-limited. Clicking twice does not fetch your mail twice as fast.
Threading and replies
Mersal reads message headers to gather replies into their correct thread rather than showing them as loose messages, and your reply leaves from the same address the message arrived at.
